About Coventry University
Coventry University is a public institution of learning in Coventry, England, and it has a rich history of offering higher education. It has its origins in Coventry College of Design, which was founded in 1843. In 1970 it was renamed Lanchester Polytechnic and in 1987 it was renamed Coventry Polytechnic.
The University of Coventry was awarded university status and its current name in 1992 under the Further and Higher Education Act. Since then, the university has evolved into a modern, global institution with an applied focus on learning and research.
